Welcome to Boscombe
Properties in Boscombe are somewhat less expensive than in other areas of Bournemouth. As such, buying in Boscombe now is a solid investment for the future – the value of seaside properties is only likely to increase, and Boscombe is rapidly becoming gentrified.
If you are looking to live with a sea view, there are numerous residences to choose from directly in front of Boscombe Pier. There are many new builds, for example, the Honeycombe beach complex, built in 2010, with a residents gym and built in appliances like a waste disposal. But there are also older buildings – what were once large Victorian guesthouses have been split into charming floor-by-floor flats, with gorgeous sea views. You might know these properties by their iconic ice-cream coloured facades – pink, blue and yellow.
All properties down by the pier boast a nearby location to amenities such as restaurants, bars and even the local surf school. From a beachfront property, you can see Hengistbury head, or take the charming land train down to Bournemouth Pier (a 30 minute walk). Boscombe Pier itself is something of an attraction, as it has an eco-friendly, fish-feeding mini golf course. Residents local to this area can also enjoy the award-winning Boscombe Chine Gardens.
If you’re looking to be closer to the local amenities – the streets off Boscombe High Street have a lot to offer. Here, you’ll be close to the supermarkets, shops and venues, including the famous O2 academy, for which Boscombe is renowned. Residential streets like Westby, Florence and Watkin Road(s) are all a stone’s throw from the high street, but all have beautiful, big, detached and semi-detached houses, complete with gardens.
Boscombe has tonnes of character, and like other areas of Dorset, has varied architecture. Amongst the Victorian houses, you can find Georgian and even art-deco properties, giving you ample choice for your property-viewing.
If you’re looking for a family home, Boscombe also has a number of local schools, nurseries and daycares in its boundaries, which consistently rank ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. Furthermore, there are plenty of medical services available, including Shelley Manor Medical Centre – so you’ll never be caught out should you or your family need medical attention.
Finally, Boscombe features fantastic and frequent bus links to the centre of town. Between the Yellow Buses and More Buses, you can be sure that transport to the centre will be simple and fast.
